Meet the team

Callum MacKinnon

Founder & Occupational Therapy Lead

Read Callum’s blog about his journey into Occupational Therapy:

Callum founded bOunceT in 2017 – the same year he registered with HCPC as an Occupational Therapist. He also has a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Management and is currently studying towards becoming a certified Sensory Integration Practitioner by early 2021. Furthermore, Callum continues to undertake advanced practice and research modules from MSc (Post-Reg) Occupational Therapy as part of his role at bOunceT.

Previously, Callum has worked as a Personal Assistant with ENABLE Scotland and families directly using SDS funding to employ him directly. In addition, Callum worked abroad at a disability summer camp in New York, USA for 3 months during the summer between 2012-15. Here, he worked in various roles from support work to management.

Callum is also Vice Chair for RCOT SSPLD group – the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section for People with Learning Disabilities.

Until recently, Callum acted as Lead Therapist within an NIHR funded clinical trial, Managing Repetitive Behaviours (MRB) with NHS Lothian and University of Edinburgh.

Question: Why do I love being an Occupational Therapist?

“I love being an Occupational Therapist because you are able to help people do things that actually mean something to them, instead of ‘fixing’ something or someone” (RCOT newsletter email – October 2020)

Naomi’s meaningful occupations include walking in nature, participating in games nights with her friends and travelling – she has visited 31 countries so far and has plenty more on her list!
