Callum MacKinnon

Founder/Executive Director & Occupational Therapy Lead

Callum founded the social enterprise in 2017, the same year he graduated from GCU and registered with HCPC as an Occupational Therapist. In addition, he has a Higher National Diploma (HND) in International Business and is currently studying towards becoming a certified Sensory Integration Practitioner by mid 2021. Furthermore, Callum continues to undertake advanced practice research by being a part-time student on the MSc (Post-Reg) Advancing Practice in Occupational Therapy at Queen Margaret University.  

Previously, Callum has worked as a Personal Assistant with ENABLE Scotland , families directly who used SDS funding to employ him directly, and abroad in USA with Camp America & CCUSA at a special needs summer camp: Camp Loyaltown (during the summer months between 2012-15). Here, he worked in various roles from support work to management.

Callum is also Vice Chair for RCOT SSPLD group – the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section for People with Learning Disabilities.

Until recently, Callum acted as Lead Therapist within an NIHR funded clinical trial, Managing Repetitive Behaviours (MRB) with NHS Lothian and University of Edinburgh.

Francesca Smart

Occupational Therapist

Francesca has been working full-time at bOunceT since August 2019 – initially in the role of ‘Play Co-ordinator’ within our Inclusive & Meaningful Play project – but throughout her time at bOunceT she has developed her role into being the services Occupational Therapist. In addition, Francesca is part of our ‘operational’ Leadership Team*. She qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2018 and worked as an OT for NHS Forth Valley before joining us here at bOunceT. Prior to qualifying as an OT, Francesca completed a BSc (Hons) in psychology and worked in special schools and in community with individuals with physical and neurological conditions. She also volunteered abroad in a mental health hospital and in orphanages in Sri Lanka for 1 summer. Francesca is very open about growing up being a young carer for her mum who has Cerebral Palsy- something that inspired her to pursue Occupational Therapy as a career.

Francesca is the Designated Child Protection Officer (DCPO) for the service and has also completed in training in Mental Health First Aid and Emergency First Aid for people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. She has also completed some other exciting training in her time here including the level 1 Makaton qualification and a leadership qualification through Just Enterprise.

Additionally, Francesca was involved in running weekly parent-groups as part of a nationwide clinical trial through the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and University of Edinburgh. Francesca will be completing a postgraduate programme in Sensory Integration alongside her work at bOunceT.

Outside of her work here at bOunceT, Francesca enjoys performing in a local amateur dramatics group and enjoys travelling when she can.

Admin Assistant

Laura helps keeps everything ticking in the office (or home office now!). She is a part-time Admin Assistant with us, and has been on and off for 2 years.

Naomi Youngman

Play Resource Officer (Occupational Therapist - incoming)

Naomi began working with bOunceT as a Play Assistant in June 2020 and had her first master’s placement with us the previous summer. Naomi is currently studying an MSc in Occupational Therapy (pre-registration) at GCU and is due to graduate in January 2021.  Previously, she completed an HNC in Occupational Therapy Support at Glasgow Clyde College, qualifying her to practice as an occupational therapy assistant. Naomi has had placement experience within older people’s services medical wards, community hospital rehabilitation and mental health services, as well as working for 10 years as a support worker for an individual with learning disabilities. Naomi is passionate about occupational therapy and feels bOunceT embodies the profession’s ethos of being person-centred and innovative. Naomi’s meaningful occupations include walking in nature, participating in games nights with her friends and travelling – she has visited 31 countries so far and has plenty more on her list!
